In all honesty I keep playing EverQuest because it's the only MMO I can have fun in. More modern MMOs are too much of a treadmill, or rather, a long cobblestoned path that leads you where they want you to go. That's not a fun path for me to walk. In EQ, I can log on, go anywhere I want and not feel like I'm not playing 'optimally', and not have to look at the laid-out path at all if I don't want to. EQ offers choices. Other MMOs just offer a straight line that leads down an unfun path.
