It was a real item that was replaced by the
Mask of Deception. The reason guise was so awesome was because it could be cast from "Any Slot" and was not flagged "Can Equip" (see the flags next to the Effect
[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]. This meant that ANYONE could become a DE, including paladins, monks, ETC. That novelty is highly coveted. The Mask of Deception, however, is only usable by rogues and bards.
