Caesar ruled as dictator of Rome for 4 years before being murdered. Not so much thwarted as cut short. He even started land reforms, altered the tax system, changed the calender, and quite a few other things. He was the great uncle of Octavian, whom he posthumously adopted. After adoption, Octavian assumed the name Gaius Julius Caesar, and was awarded the honorific Augustus, or the revered one, by the Senate after he solidified his power in 27 bc, altho he had effectively been ruling Rome since 44 bc, following the death of his adopted father.

I stand corrected; my apologies - it's been a few years. Besides, it's only fitting that someone should call me out on my own BS! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
