Problem is, those 'some people' can block hundreds from content. The way you phrase your comment would suggest that its simply a time investment. When its not that simple. Time does not = success. Opportunity does. This is why no game after EQ that was a major success ever used this mechanic again. Even Brad McQuaid himself in his other game, and Im fairly certain Pantheon - abandoned this tactic.

Except you're wrong. That time investment is also a choice. Nothing those people do prohibits you from attempting to get an FTE as well. They aren't blocking hundreds of people of those hundreds are not even attempting to race for an FTE.
