Because there was this scorpion at the bank of a river. The scorpion looked up and saw a bird. The scorpion called to the bird "hey bird! give me a ride to the other side of the river!". The bird laughed and said "no! you'll sting me, scorpion". The scorpion said "Oh no way! I swear I won't sing you, bird, I just want to meet with my family on the other side!". The bird thought to himself for a moment and said "ok I will give you a ride to the other side of the river, scorpion".
Half-way across the river, the scorpion stung the bird. As they fell out of the sky together towards the middle of the river, the bird said to the scorpion "WHY DID YOU STING ME, NOW WE WILL BOTH DIE IN THE RIVER!". The scorpion responded "because I'm a scorpion".
