The Ghoul Messenger is level 27 so I'd think landing a snare on him for a teens-level character is a mighty big if. And with 1000 HP, it's probably going to take more than one snare to fill him with enough arrows to make him give up the map. I'd consider bringing a few friends to this party.

Ask for a sow then. People have soloed giants as a low level with a bow before.
