Money is an enabler and, as such, shares a direct correlation with the potential for happiness. While money does not directly equal happiness, it would be unwise to say that they are not related. However, there are always outliers...

As far as "sacrificing" one's life for a game... Well, that is really up to them. Honestly, trying to apply your definition of what a life should be is going to ultimately fail. In my opinion, if Joe_1001 enjoys spending countless hours farming platinum or trading up then the more power to him. My pass times tend to be far more destructive that that these days.

I currently live a pretty good college life with the biggest damper on my social life being the fact that I'm a Chemical Engineering major (graduating shortly, woo). I go out frequently with friends, I pay my own bills, I work hard and I play harder. However, I am finding that I was just as happy power gaming my butt off throughout junior high and high school as I am now.
