I didn't make the list but I was on it a month ago. It works pretty well for casual players, but I can see why hardcore autists disapprove.
Anybody was free to put their name on the list and after a SF pop the next player on the list who was online got the camp. Worked pretty well, nobody QQ'ed about being skipped or that a list even existed.
