Fashionquest for Necros doesn't make much sense to me. You're going to be a skeleton 90% of the time, who cares?
Iksar starts being obviously better than other races at 39/lich. Lifedrain DoT will let you play catch-up, but its not as mana efficient as other spells.
That said, I played an Erudite necro on live to 65 and was only jealous once I had a zlandi heart/saw the majesty of natural regen. And even then I still loved the character. Don't reroll and just keep on keepin on, imo.
