When I was a kid, I misheard wind chill factor as "windshield" factor, because my mother commonly had on a radio station while driving that would cycle through the weather.

I knew that if we were driving fast and I put my hand out the window, it felt cooler than it really was out. So I thought the windshield factor was what the temperature felt like as you were driving, but never understood how they didn't give you different temperatures for different speeds.
