Default Updated Spell_us.txt file causing issues.

Hope Im not the only one with this problem. I played my first few levels on p1999 without updating the txt files that the server requires. It ran fine but within a few levels I realized that spells were labelled with wrong levels, gem icons were wrong or sometimes blank, etc.

This prompted me to download and update the recommended files from project1999.org and replace the original titanium files. As soon as I made this adjustment I started having a really nagging issue. about 1/3 of the times that I zoned or logged in from the char select screen, EQ would stop responding. Id give it a good 5 minutes while it would just hang on the previous screen before alt/ctrl/del which is the only way I could get out of it.

I dealt with it for awhile but it became so glaring that I started looking around on the forums here and on eqemu.org. After reading some very specific posts and replies I began to suspect the updated spell text doc. After reverting it to the original file installed by titanium I can confirm that the crashing issue does not happen with the old file. The problem with this is I have to choose between correctly labelled spells with the nice old particle effects or a game that crashes frequently enough to make it no fun to play.

Any help anyone can give on this subject would be much appreciated. Oh yes, I dont know if this could potentially be of any help, but when I try to open the spell_us.txt file that I download from project1999.org, the document is displayed in japanese text, this was the case on my home pc and my laptop. I opened it with wordpad and it was in english. Im running windows 7 home premium. Thanks.
