Obama won the democratic primary by delegates, even though he lost the popular vote. While I disagreed with the sentiment at the time, a lot of the more elitist democrats assumed it was because of race...
There was some stupid poll they publicized widely that showed a lot of rust belt states said: "race is very important to the election" (opposed to "not important at all" etc). Because most people are stupid and don't pay attention to details, the media successfully framed it as a big group of people admitting they wouldn't vote for Obama because of race...but that wasn't the poll question, was it?
There was a lot of blowback from this, but the media whitewashed it. Even when there was the "PUMAs" (Party Unity My Ass) protesting and disrupting the convention. So its a stretch to say "no one cared."
What has been happening lately is the MSM is becoming totally dead as a propaganda machine. My hope is that our social media masters don't take their place.
Edit: delegates and super delegates are completely corrupt as a electoral device. We would have president Sanders likely if it wasn't for this system. Then again, we would have never had Obama and would likely have had Hillary instead.
