Oh I know Mick ^^ But that doesn't make ideology any less damning. It's most often stagnant thought :c Nothing generally comes of it butt the same stale reasoning and worn ideas. I suppose it is unfair to say ideology is stupid though because the embrace of reason and skepticism in itself is ideologic. It just happens that those ideals lead to ever evolving understanding and one would hope eventually, truth.
The underlying problem with any belief system or world view is: why? What is the fundamental purpose or goal of, well, anything? That radically alters what reason would suggest should be in any given context. The problem with ideology is that people most often never consider those most basic questions of what ought to be. They accept a set of embellished premises that prevent them from ever considering those basic questions.
This is important because through reason, the most basic questions will always lead to the same understanding. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that elegance and accuracy are the measure of ideological validity ^^ The most correct ideology is the one which is most accurate and most elegant. That ideology is reason ^^

I hear you but what about actually giving into an idiology once you realize that you cannot exist without being a part of one?
If one were to say, Idiologies are bad!" then the that person themselves is subject to being a part of one, one ignoring the values of different ideologies and other ideas, in the name of liberalism no less. Not all ideologies are wrong in every way, and when one becomes more wrong than it is right it tends to collapse under its own weight.
So why avoid them? Theyre harmless, and wonderful. They bring people together to build great things, they evolve mankind into new frontiers and build in free markets, free markets that have driven the quality of life through the roof for over 3 centuries!
Why not embrace the existence you were given the opportunity to be a part of?
I have chosen an ideology that is strong and of moral value and dominance of the weak but worship of a lord who knows it is the meek that have inherited the earth. Those that live in sin will, until they choose not to.
But until then, they will do what my ideology says.
