I didn't want to swim anywhere, when I asked in /ooc another way to get to FV they said go to Oasis and take the boat. I blame myself for not asking if a "Good" race can do that or if that boat actually drops me off in FV or not. To a lot of people it's easy to make that swim/run because it's second nature, to me I was just lost bobbing around in the water. You sayswim to the firepots, and a new player like myself has zero idea what you mean.
When I played EQ live boats would break down to FV on occasion, actually quite a bit and at times they would have a guy at the end of the dock that would just teleport you to the FV dock because the boats were broken. Without the boat to FV from BB 16th level enchanters are honestly screwed for Breeze unless they want to brave the DL run, and if you are new you don't know the way and running through a 40+ level zone (if I recall) at level 16 is a CR waiting to happen if you don't know where your going.
Having a 16th level go to BB, then wait on a boat, then take a long ride to FV, then figure out where to go to get the spell.. that's EQ. It's a pain, but at level 16 it's just a time sink, it's honestly not dangerous. Run through DL? That's a bit much to expect from a new player at level 16 IMO. Their is a reason the boat was set up at BB, a newbie area. That way they could expect lower levels to be able to get to FV and see the new expansion city without dying early and often.
Honestly for me this is a "Rant" but it's more of a "yep another day of EQ like it was back in the day" post. I was frustrated, but not mad. It's annoying that I haven't got the spell, and I'm going to brave the DL run and be done with it (one way or another) if the boats are still broken in BB today, which I am going to assume they are as I was told they have been down for over a week now.
