Go to the wiki and select your class. Should have some examples of gear that you can aspire to down at the bottom.
Don't get hung up on gear. Aside from having a magical weapon for melee you can honestly get to a decently high level in just rags.

Yup, I've checked the wiki, but the recommended gear doesn't help me much, just a lot of unfamiliar names and they all drop in high level zones. Maybe I really do need to move past the need for gear, but I'd just like to have something better, y'know? When's the last time you saw a paladin wearing cloth?
