Did you know that naked mole rats are the longest lived rats with lives spanning two decades or more. They virtually hairless, blind and all but immune to pain and live their lives between alternating bursts of extreme activity and hibernation when the tubers they feed on become too scarce. Food is of course difficult to come by in the deserts that they call home and the cannot spare any for their young. Instead, they feed their babies their own shit for the first part of their life.

These creatures are also the only euosocial mammals, meaning their societies function similar to insects like ants or bees, with a single fertile queen who bears offspring . When the queen reaches a certain age or dies, the most dominant female becomes fertile and assumes her place.
