Definitely enjoyable for your first time around. I never really played EQ when it first came out and I came here for the exact same reason you did. This is how an MMO is supposed to be. You may notice that some things are different than wow, most notably you lose xp when you die and during your corpse run you are naked and vulnerable. The game is very risky especially at low levels. It's always best to group with others. What were stupid minor buffs in modern mmos are now gamechangers. If someone gives you a good buff dont waste it. Speaking of buffs, you may also notice there arent mounts. Instead druids offer one of the most useful utility buffs in the game. SoW or spirit of wolf makes you run at mount speed. Fast travel is done by other players by using a teleport spell. Druids and wizards both have different teleport locations. If you need a port you can type "/who all dial" and you will be shown a list of players in the "dial a port" guild. They work off of tips and offer free corpse runs if you are naked. Remember, if you are far away from the spot you are bound at you need a player to bind you. This is a spell that changes your respawn location to a different city. This is not handled by npcs. Remember to con everything by right clicking. This will show you if they will attack you on sight and their difficulty. Not all mobs in a zone are the same level range and some will kill you on sight. You may be wondering how to make money. There is a place called EC tunnel. This is the tunnel between east commons and ro. This is a bazaar where people sell and buy goods. You may notice that there are no mining nodes or plants to pick. Instead at low levels you can kill enemies that drop silk, bone chips, high quality pelts, and zombie skin. These things will get you some good starter cash at the ec tunnel. Questing is somewhat different than most games. You dobt go from zone to zone looking for quests. There are some quests that have items you turn in to an npc for money and exp but most of the time you will be camping an area and killing mobs that pop. Dungeons work like this at first too. Instead of going through a dungeon and clearing it a lot of the time you will camp a room with a group and farm strong mobs together. Welcome to the game, it is loads of fun. I hope I didn't treat you too much like a noob with this advice. The community is great and people love to help eachother.
