Seniority/brand loyalty plays no part in understanding the metrics behind stuff like this. You can certainly accept donations. That's not RMT. If I make a thread to give away a hundred fungi tunics and then post a PayPal.me link at the end, that's completely legitimate. There's no prerequisite of payment. Would that be douchey? Absolutely. Is there any universe in which gaining Twitch followers from Project 1999 translates into income? Absolutely not.

It's totally shitty to post in someone's giveaway thread pointing out that it's "not entirely selfless" because he'll gain Twitch followers. If a best-selling author gives all of his book proceeds to charity, do you send him a letter saying how selfish it is because he's increasing his readership?
