A fungi is always helpful. It's has re sell value (and always buyers) and can be passed on to alts if not needed on main or wanna play a mele alt. Other gear - especially, if you buy panther skin, doesn't have any of that!
You have haste and weapons already, they are the only real things a monk needs, general armour in other slots won't be nearly as helpful as a fungi!

Its not true that other slots are not useful.
AC is always useful to anyone, especially Monks who are the best XP group tanks in the game and would be well into Luclin. AC on Monks is just golden. Its also, in terms of EC Tunnel, quite cheap.
