Also, in response to rick, blizzard hasn't just overlooked what made MMOs great, they were the ones that started the instant gratification trend with wow. They single handedly destroyed MMOs. Everyone saw how many subs they got (because the game was simplified and held your hand) and other companies followed suit to turn a profit

Don't disagree at all, but they were far closer to EQ at the jump.
Well said in your last post. MMOs have to be made so everything is as fun and rewarding as "end game." Getting that first magical weapon and hitting level 10 should feel as incredible as hitting level 50 in your run of the mill wow-clone. When mmos are designed to rush to the end, of course they don't last and sub models fail.
