That's just really weird lol. I use man/he/his as generics all the time when just referring to a generic person, because that is what it is: generic. Guys don't get special pronouns. They don't even get their own noun. Can't say I've ever met anyone so generous its application as J though. But then,
he is a very special flower ^^
