DEATH/DOOM METAL
Lazy/silly name but accurate. It's a subgenre of doom metal. Although some people do, I don't consider bands like Asphyx or Autopsy to be part of this style. They have doomy passages but they're death metal bands.
The music creates the doom atmosphere but much darker. Death metal inspired vocals and drumming mostly and on more than occasion death metal riffing.
Celtic Frost is a very important influence.

FUNERAL DOOM METAL
Grew out of death/doom metal. Puts more emphasis on the depressive aspect of doom and is typically very slow. Where death/doom ends and funeral begins is a vague line.
