I used to be really into metal but I just don't understand how people 30+ can get into cookie monster shit. When you are young the novelty of the "heaviness" of shit like Mortician is ok but I would imagine most people grow out of that right?

You see this type of thinking often, especially with people who
used to enjoy metal and hip-hop. It was a phase for you and you enjoyed the novelty of it. It's not a phase for others and they enjoy it for the artistic merit. That's why you no longer like it and others do. It's that simple.
I like a lot of different types of music. I branch out listen to other music but I don't stop enjoying what I like.
