Why not? They already do most of their enforcement actions on behalf of the federal government.
Possession is 9/10ths of the law, and all possession cases are also federal crimes. They get federal incentive money if they make a certain number of arrests for said possession (guns, drugs). Incentive and aid money already dictates the policy and procedures of local LEO.
Why not federalize if they are de-facto federalized anyway?
Name one good reason not to.
