Even the term 'Caucasian' used for people from the Caucasus region is older.

Yes, all people once lived in and around the "fertile crescent" and yes, among them were caucasians. While its no surprise places like wikipedia are scrubbing light skinned from the definition, most dictionaries still include it. That new knowledge and re-education at work.

Important to note is caucasian or caucasoid is one of 3 major races, the other two being mongoloid and negroid. Indians (both asiatic and murican) are mongoloids.
