Project 1999 has two servers: Regular (PvE - Blue) and PvP (Red).
Try looking here to see if you recognize any names from your server (list not really up to date at this point).
Blue is pretty active when it comes to grouping, so if you don't know anyone, don't worry. You will probably find some friends as you level
