it depends on your definition of democracy. The definition of democracy and when it is good to use a "minimalist" (narrow) definition vs "inclusive" (expansive) is a giant rabbit hole that we really don't need to get into unless your actually going to argue there isn't a fundamental difference between our government and what the military is doing in Turkey.
