After leaving Velious....I decided to go back to the Faydark and get stronger. I figured I would need to learn new sneaksy techniques to get the best treasures!
I had heard the elves were fighting orcs....so I headed to the orc city to see what I could do!

I fought many orcs there! And took their belts as proof! I knew the dwarves offered pretty good rewards for proof of orc hunting, so that is where I went once my bags were full of belts.

While I was there I even studied with the dwarf rogues a little bit! Learning how to backstab!
Then...as I was leaving...my keen gnome senses started to tell me something was wrong....
Indeed, there were far less guards than normal!!!
That is when I saw him....it was a dark elf!! Ambushing the dwarf guards!!!
This was my chance!! To put all my rogue training to use!!!!!!

It was a success!!! I had made money!!
I was pretty proud of myself after that....and decided to go back to Ak'anon to show Welno all the treasure I had earned. It wasn't quite 1 million platinum, but it was close-ish!

Welno was pretty impressed by all I had earned already! So much that he gave me an ancient scroll he was keeping in a small basket sneakily covered by crumpled paper!! Welno sure knew his stuff, no one would look for it there!
As I opened the scroll....I read carefully its story of an ancient gnome technique....the gnomish shuffle! The instructions weren't quite clear, but it was a start! I had to master it!!
So I went out into the Steamfont mountains to practice. Welno said there had been some trouble with the minotaurs...so figured that might be a good place to start.

It didn't take me too long to find where the minotaurs were....but I was shocked when I discovered they were keeping gnomes as slaves!! I had to save them!! For free even!!!
I lured the minotaurs away...one after another.....and on each one I practiced trying to figure out the gnomish shuffle....
Slowly I started to adjust my movements and timing ....until....finally....I learnt how to slip behind a minotaur fighting me and backstab it before it could notice!!!! I couldn't do it every time, only maybe 50-60 percent....but it was a start!!
The minotaurs after seeing the ancient technique being used were so scared the rest of them retreated....I had done it! The gnome slaves were free!!!

As I was celebrating my victory and newfound power.....I heard a distant call for help....
The minotaur hero had woken!! Surely warned by one of the ones that ran away from me!!!
I had heard rumors of the hero....the greatest minotaur fighter there was....slayer of many gnomes..... even with my technique I wouldn't stand a chance.
But this was my responsibility....I couldn't back down....I had to do something!!! For the sake of the gnomes!!! Also, I was an adventurer!!

I ran to where they had last spotted the hero.... I didn't even have sow or any magic on me!
I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do, but I had to do something.
Though, I did have one thing others adventurers don't....gnomish rogue smarts!!! With some thought it didn't take me long to devise a gnomish plan to save the others from the heroes rampage!!
There was no time to wait, I rushed into phase 1!! So...sneakily...I got close to the minotaur hero.....and threw a dagger at him!! I think I mighta missed, I didn't really see, since by the time the dagger got to him I was already running away!!!
"GNOME!! IT WAS YOU!!!" Yup, he had noticed! I could hear his snort and shout as he began charging after me!
This was getting dangerous!!!! But so far, my plan was going pretty good!!!
I ran as fast as I could....not sure how fast he would be....if even I could outrun him.....I had to put phase 2 of my plan into action!!
But, as I neared the windmills....the guard I had arranged an ambush with was already gone!!! The coward!!!!
Ok ok, it was no time to panic....I had to keep calm...and also keep running!!
I ran all the way back near the gates of Ak'anon with the minotaur close behind me! I had a backup plan!!
Then I saw Watchman Dreeb! This was my chance!
"Sneaksy? Wha....don't stop running! There is a minotaur after you!!!!"
"Save me save me save me!!!!!"
Dreeb rushed into action and met the minotaur hero head on. I knew he was pretty strong from fighting wolves, so knew he could handle a minotaur hero, maybe!

A few moments later my plan was complete! The minotaur hero was dead!!! I guess Dreeb gets some credit too, maybe 8 percent!
I let the other gnomes know it was safe to come out and the mountains broke out in celebration! I (and Dreeb I guess) had done it!! The Steamfont mountains were safe another day!!
