My first Everquest character ever was a Human Shadowknight. I did the West Freeport thing for a while and duo'd with a friend who rolled a Human Monk to show me around. Eventually, he recommended we move to Crushbone, so we got on the boat.

The boat ride was long, but peaceful and exciting in a way. I was going to a whole new continent. Just how huge was Norrath? Amazing.

I wasn't aware of faction issues, and I did not get a warm welcome at the docks at Butcherblock. My friend dragged my corpse outside of the dock while I took a second voyage to Faydwer, this time, jumping off early hoping no sharks would get me, swam to shore and finished my CR.

At that point, the trip to Crushbone was intense -- hugging the zone wall, killing aggressive mobs, my heart rate surging when I passed a guard house. Praying the orc runner or the wandering ogre wasn't going to get me...

Good times.

The Human SK couldn't turn in crushbone belts and pads, so I eventually abandoned that Human SK and rolled a DE SK and did other things. Once you go Blue (skin), you never go back.
