You can actually go to a gun show and purchase automatic weapons without having to go through anything you just said. You don't even need a backround check at many of the shows stalls.

The loophole they use is that the guns firing mechanism is permanently locked into the 1 round shot, so they claim "it's not an automatic rifle". They sell AR15s and even M16s using this bullshit logic, I've seen it myself at two different gun shows in North Carolina. The problem with this is you can spend 15$ on a kit that allows you to replace the mechanism and select any firing mode the gun has.

Obviously doing so makes it illegal to own, but that's not the point. No one should be able to buy a military grade weapon in the first place at a fucking gun show where backround checks aren't even necessary at some, let alone not having to have training and all the shit you mentioned.

That's the main focus of the government and their attempt at gun control, the bullshit loopholes they use at gun shows. And that's why the NRA has been vehemently trying to stop them, since the majority of the NRA profits come from gun shows.

The creator of the AR15 was recently interviewed with him saying "the gun was never meant to be in civilian hands, and should never be in civilian hands. It's far too dangerous a weapon." (Paraphrasing).

When asked about the fact that the NRA claims it's okay as long as the gun doesn't have an automatic fire mode, just semi automatic, he chuckled saying "It's more dangerous in semi automatic. I recommended to the military when they first started training their soldiers with this gun to use Semi Automatic mode. Burst firing is the most accurate and lethal way to use this gun." (Again paraphrasing. If I feel like it I'll find the interview and get direct quotes).

This shits a joke.
Just from someone who constantly buys guns and has purchased several from many different locations. Half of this is bullshit. Gun shows do require background checks if they are a business or considered an FFL. Private sales in some states are available through person to person transactions and are able to be done without any background check regardless if you are at a gun show or not.

Semi-Auto, Full-Auto, Bolt action, none of these matter. If someone wants to kill, it doesn't necessarily take a gun to do that. People can build a bomb out of household materials you can find at your local supermarket.

Although I agree private sales should be limited, Eugene stoner never said the AR 15 was too powerful for civilians. Hence why he went onto to Colt, KAC and Ares.

As far as people putting in that $15 piece? Yeah.....no one does that..... except morons out in the country. It carries a large amount of prison time and the people that do it illegal for illegal activates, will go to whatever end whether there is a law or not. It stops the people who want to register legally and use it as a sport. Cars kill more people per year.
