Once this server cools down a bit and the variance quest competition is over, I'm hoping to put together an all-Monk Avatar of War kill using Whirlwind. Assuming 65 dps per monk and 8 seconds per whirlwind, we can solve rather easily (N * 65 * 8) * N = 1M HP -> N = 45 monks required. Your equation works for 45 boxed monks automated by MQ2... But to account for real world factors you need a safety factor. Combat regen, Latency on next monk in chain, missed chain pickup, deaths to ripostes.
I'd say at a minimum you'd want a safety factor of 2.0. Atleast 90 monks would be required I think.
