And it was still just a citizen/popular vote, stations/networks/news sites make big bucks around election time and "scandal" like news such as that was great for advertising. Why tell the common folks that what they did and are watching does not matter?
For a more clear example: When Roseanne ran for president in 2012 and if she has 90% of the popular votes.. it would not mean shit because the majority of the Electoral College voted for Obama
