I play on a 17" laptop but i don't play full screen (I have issues doing that.... it won't register mouse clicks when I click outside the 'window' that EQ launches in. It thinks i'm trying to click my desktop). So i play the equivalent of a 12-13" screen and I can see just fine. The laptop is like 2010 or so and running windows 7.
I also use the trackpad and no mouse. People always gasp when I tell them this.

Like Swish said above, you can change the window resolution to make it larger. Perhaps you're aware and don't care, but I didn't know this for a long time and was playing in a small window on my already small 13" screen. It's in Options > Displays > Video Modes on the left column if I remember correctly. Or you can do it manually and edit the file yourself.
But playing on a trackpad? Yeh, you cray.
