But it's a beta so characters will be wiped after? Well just thought I'd bring it up. I'm definitely looking into it though!

They will be wiped but there's no telling how long the Beta will last, it could be many months - given the server's history, they don't like to rush things.

Anyway I finally downloaded and setup the game this morning, and DAoC Portal (kind of like an EQemu launcher/login-server equivalent.) It took just about 15-20 minutes to patch it all the way, it totals at about 4.7GB. Once the server is actually on and they'll put up the server patch, I imagine it'll be very slow with tons of people trying to get the client at the same time, so don't wait till the last minute!
It'd be great if we had the classes to make AOE XP groups going, it makes leveling so much easier and fun too. To do that, a group requires atleast 2 PBAOE bombers, the concept is the same as those Chardok AOE groups on P99, only we won't have AOE stuns - so we'll have to improvise with either Tanks taunting and peeling the mobs off the Casters, or some other form of CC. All pure casters in Hibernia (other than Animists,) get a single target Stun, which increases in duration about every 10 levels automatically.
The two classes with big damage from their PBAOEs are the Eldritch and the Enchanter (they also get pets with various abilities,) both get theirs from the Moon (Mana) spec-lines. The Animists also get a pet through which they can do something similar, out of the Verdant spec-line, but nowhere near as fast and strong. There are many other great spells in those spec-lines other than the PBAOE bombs, so you wouldn't be good at just that one thing.
Every Spec-line for every Class has different spells but also some things in common, like casters from the same Realm would share many 'Base Spells;' Stuns, DDs, self-AF buffs (armor-factor, aka AC, etc.) the ones they get automatically as they level up, without having to go to any trainers.
Anyway it's not too viable to start bomb groups right from the start with no gear at hand, but we can try anyway!
First you need to reach level 5 to be able to promote into a specific class type. When you create your char, you will select a type of base class which will branch out into advanced classes. Hibernian casters start out with the Sun and the Moon (Light and Mana) spec-lines available right at level 1, however you won't be able to get any Class spells until you reach level 5 and promote into one, so
save your first training points.
