Trump isn't falling short because of Ted Cruz's success, its because of unbound delegates and abstain votes by delegates.
You are trying to say that Trump not getting these unbound delegates is some kind of legitimate function of the system. When in reality, we have never NOT had a nominee called by May/June.
The optional delegates are fucking him. Period. "rules and system" my ass, they didn't "rule and system" for George W Bush, or GHWB, or anyone in the last few decades. Its almost May, no nominee? That's a fuck job by the system.

Since the inception of the Republican Party there has been 10 contested conventions where the delegate leader didn't win the nominee on the 1st ballot. 1976 was the last one, Ford didn't have enough delegates and that went to convention. 1948 same thing and so on.
