I've been to guild meets in the past. They are fun, and it's nice to go places and do things.
Careful on the immersion levels though, if you're choosing pixel pals over your regular ones... or perhaps worse, your pixel pals are your only ones, which might be Chest's problem and the reason he loves being part of the loot council.
They'll never leave you Chest, fear not... just gain and enforce that sense of togetherness by spewing some more vitriol in my direction. You are part of "a healthy community of people" aren't you now?
