Make mod rods prior and hand them out. Not to mention you obviously never played a mage because you aren't making them for yourself, other than just one when done, as they're lore items. I can accept your explanation, just that its only for one specific purpose, which is a Coth race. 99% of the time the only other reason for mod rods is so that the rest of your raid can be more efficient. specifically clerics. A mana robe means more rods on the ground and your healers having mana longer.

Other than that even pre-summoning rods makes no sense for a mage to be using other than a solo mage with one rod in inventory before a solo session. and even after that one making more makes 0 sense. any mage seen using mod rods should be punched in the face if its not a coth race.

a mana robe can help a mage otherwise. is it worth it? thats up to the person.
