Yeah his script is a bit different here imo (the script loops in a time interval). Also it doesn't require you to go through the dialogue before you can kill him (as on live). If you go over and see him up you can pull, he will drop the items irregardless.
You can notice the same thing on rodrick too (he says the script if you pull him asap while killing him)
