Let us strike while the iron is hot and move quickly to ban hatchets before they are able to bend the will if any other innocents to their nefarious ways. Were it not for Starbucks the hatchet might have claimed more lives.

Read the article. I feel sick.
Too much exposure to liberal sensationalist agenda on the "gun debate".
The only thing I agree with (that the article fails to mention, because it had no intention of raising legitimate concerns), is making longer training programs and class hours to receive a concealed permit. Make the cops the instructors by law. This generates revenue and reinforces the seriousness of the training.
Currently any asshole can be a firearms instructor, and the course can be finished within 8 hours. Its supposed to last 2 weeks, but these guys condense the material and tests into a single day. Also the course does not teach the legality of firearms use. This is plain unacceptable. Citizens are not lawyers. Teach them the self defense laws in their state as part of the course. I would think that should be a given, right? But liberals only want to talk about taking guns away lol. Fix it, legislate it.
Most firearms instructors barely emphasize the importance of trigger and grip control. People naturally want to keep their finger on the trigger at all times just like Hollywood. This needs to be legislated into a criminal penalty as well to prevent accidents. Similar to the rack laws in Texas and Detroit. If the officer inspects your firearm and learns that its racked, you are going to jail immediately for improper carry.
Also make it cost a little more than the current 50 to 200 dollar ballpark. Again, to reinforce the seriousness of the responsibility. 500-1000 perhaps. THE PROBLEM IS, however, that passing the course DOES NOT guarantee a concealed firearms permit. Anyone can be denied for any reason by LEO. So you pay for the certificate, get denied for no reason (happens a lot), then what?
I guess refund them.
