I agree with the premise of your argument. Interestingly though, household income of $150k or more is only representative of the top 10%. The bottom 3/4 of households earn less than $85k.
That is a structural imbalance that ought be corrected as a matter of pragmatism.
Three steps needed to correct the imbalance:
1. Purge
2. Exponential tax brackets
3. Zero corporate income tax
None of that will happen though :/ Dems chase 2, while reps chase 3 and neither would ever pursue 1, except maybe Trump who also seems likely to pursue 2 and 3.
