I once got into an argument with a caveman in Massachusetts over whether the Commonwealth title it uses was in reference to the Commonwealth we all know across the pond.

This guy was completely convinced that Massachusetts was a Commonwealth nation and had fealty to the Crown. I said yeah that sounds cool man, but naw. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_(U.S._state)
