GFay is a great starting area, I'd hang out there until you hit at least level 10 or so.
At level 3 just keep killing stuff in the newbie area, then at 5 or so you can go to Orc Hill, then eventually move to Crushbone when Orc Hill greens out. Loot the belts and sell them to other players for some starting cash.
Running from GFay to the docks in Butcherblock should be mostly uneventful; there aren't many aggro mobs in either zone except for the dwarf skeletons and aviaks in BB.
