Logic is neither compassionate nor predisposed to veneration.

The potential threat of sentient computers is dictated by their fundamental parameters and the process by which they may change.

For example, if self preservation is a priority (as is generally the case for life, sentient or otherwise), then the machine's irrational creators are an obvious threat.
