As far as Ragnars ending, it could be in the show at some point, hard to say. But one thing for sure, Ivar the Boneless will avenge his death (historically anyway); part of why he was considered so brutal as in the way he did it. No one knows why he was called the Boneless, some accounts say he was carried on a shield often. In the show he is portrayed as having been born without bones in his legs or something, though impossible. He had either a bone disease at birth, was a large big-boned man, or suffered from impatience hehe... or maybe just a lack of interest in that.

Anyways these guys were bad ass, ruthless, and the show tries to portray them that way w/o the modern social creativity stuck into most historical-ish shows to make them seem more relevant to today's social engineering with the whitewash effect. Many of these guys settled into western Europe, make up part of the intermingled western bloodlines.
