Sheesh - what a bullcrap.

Article says "within 18000 miles" - that's roughly 29000 kilometres. earth radius is about 6450 km (including atmosphere). Divide the area of a circle with radius 29000 km by the "to hit" area: pi*Rē / (pi*rē) and you get a rough chance for a hit of 1 in 20. While that is enough to be worried about, it is hardly a "will hit".
