if you are on the elf continent periodically /who all steamfont. like kith if you see a high level there ask if they are killing Renux and ask if you can loot the no drop skean. It's a really good off hand weapon, nice enough ratio and a long duration stun (stun is good aggro).
As a warrior save your first 100pp to get some nice dps weapons cheap from EC. Looted rawhide/ringmail will tide you over for armour. Next 100pp on a set of banded. Next couple of hundred pp on hp/ac rings. Late 20 through 30s if you get a questing itch crafted armour is easy enough to attain and gives you the chance to tour the old world.
Edit: note even though it is called 'crafted armour' it is actually attained via a quest from some centaurs :P.
