I can only assume that you emphasize the word 'theory' here out of a mistaken belief that the word 'theory' carries the same connotations in the world of science as it does in our everyday use of the word. No, it is as factual of "a theory" as the THEORY of gravity, or the THEORY of atoms or the THEORY of germs.
