Yeah no stockholm syndrome, the bullies in my personal experience would pick out people that maybe had potential, but just weren't with the program. The bully would stop after the serf was able to assert itself confidently in a believable cool and normal fashion, and prove he was strong. Not necessarily requiring any violence of any kind.

So I understand your example firsthand.
