Just realized I got into a few taarofing matches and didn't even know what was going on. Thanks for the info. I had no idea what this was prior to you mentioning the term.

There was this persian cab driver I tried to tip for information (he used a computer, I waited at his window taking his time up) and he immediately said No no no no, and I responded instantaneously with no no no no no (as in no, really) and kept trying to give him the money and he said no again. And kept getting louder. I raised my voice over him and kept saying no no no no while trying to give him the money and eventually forced him to accept it, while shouting no no no.

Looks like I'm ready for Persian primetime and didn't even know it.
