More importantly, I don't remember Efreeti having two guards next to him... only the two pathers that roam the pathway up to his spawn. I started right before Kunark released, so it may have started that way but it definitely wasn't like that in the Kunark days.

This. I lived there in Velious era farming/PLing friends. Definitely did not have two guards on either side of him.
